My family has been attending a new church recently, a very large church in our community. The attendance hovers around 3500 weekly, and there are currently 77 openings for people to help with the Sunday kids programs. 77 openings, 3500 attending!
Yes, it's true, but are we willing to go past just admitting it?
We live in a "confessional society" today, without the necessary repentance. We love being cathartic (just look at the talk shows), but few of us are willing to change. It's what many call "cheap grace".
I would agree. I was speaking with my Pastor about how sinful I am. And I complained, and complained, and complained and then he said, (I'm paraphrasing) "Why are you dwelling on your sin? You should be seeking the fruits of the Spirit, praying to God that He give you more patience, more self control, more kindess (etc. etc.)" And what I do realize is that I talk a lot about what a sinner I am, and rarely do I do anything about it.
Yes, we sin. But since salvation has been given to us, God has given us the power to stop sinning! And if we talked the walk a little more often, we'd see the fruits of our salvation much clearer!! :D
